DESCRIPTION OF WIND DATA SYSTEMS FOR NAVAL SHIPS: Tired of climbing the mast to replace those expensive broken cups? This solid state anemometer is trouble free and never needs service or maintenance! This intelligent, solid-state wind sensor is compatible with all existing MicroMet Data Loggers and Automatic Monitoring Systems. The solid-state wind sensor can work accurately even when it is tilted by up to 20 degrees, thereby making it suitable for mobile applications on vehicles, boats and moving platforms.
How Does it Work Four sensors communicate in pair with ultrasonic waves. They calculate the required time it takes for the ultrasound to travel between 2 sensors on a diagonal. The values are then evaluated by an internal processor to determine the wind speed and direction and are compared against a reference. The technology allows a sensitivity of .5 knots up to 100 knots. The solid-state wind sensor is available in two versions:
Wind Sensor with temperature
Wind Sensor with Temperature & Barometric Pressure
Each version gives a NMEA output which is conditioned by a microprocessor controlled Unit to give a choice of outputs detailed below.
The sensor has no moving parts and is very rugged. It needs no maintenance in normal conditions except to keep it clean. It has an integral anti-icing heater built in as standard for operating in sub-zero conditions.
